Todd Creek Tales

Strange times unfold before our very eyes. We managed to survive four years with a madman in the White House. He waged a full scale attack on our democratic institutions and values. Things like rule of law, truth, honor, civility and integrity, for instance.

Then, we enjoyed four years of peace, prosperity and sanity under the stewardship of President Joe Biden. Praise be to God!

Now, hold on to your hats. The thirty-four-time convicted felon is back and seeks vindication. Lord, have Mercy on us.

August 23, 2025: And here we are. He’s unleashed the FBI on Bolton. He’s threatening Schiff, Brennan, and James.  He’s sent federal troops into our cities “to bring order” when there was no disorder.  He’s occupied DC with armed combat troops, and he threatens to occupy more cities  – but ONLY cities run by a brown or black skinned  Democratic mayor.

Meanwhile, the Trump-Epstein-Child-Sex-Trafficking scandal rages. Speaker Johnson and his republican caucus can run, but they can’t hide. The Rapist Felon in the White House can rant, rave, obfuscate, and distract. But this ball and chain ain’t going away. Let’s all join together in happy song.

August 25, 2025: Now he’s threatening to occupy Chicago. Iliinois Governor Pritzker responded forcefully and clearly: “To any federal official who would come to Chicago and try to incite my people into violence as a pretext for something darker and more dangerous, we are watching — and we are taking names”

The Mayor and I

There once was a county clerk in Memphis, by the name of Dick Hackett. He was a hard line fundamentalist right winger who required female employees to wear bras. I wrote him and volunteered to be the county bra “inspector.” Needless to say, I didn't get the job. His...

Here I Stand: Pacts with the Devil and Haiti

The Rev’d James W. Nutter January 14, 2010 From today’s Houston Chronicle: “Evangelical broadcaster Pat Robertson says Haiti has been ‘cursed’ because of what he calls a ‘pact with the devil’ in its history.” Well, I couldn’t quite believe that such words were said,...

Who Is Tommy Moore

An unusual springtime snowfall canceled Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s plans for a March 22, 1968 protest. More than 16 inches fell: the second largest snowfall in Memphis history, and well beyond the city’s yearly snowfall average of 5.6 inches. But Thomas Moore, an...

Quarter Beer Night

Most of us have heard at one time or another a hair-raising tale about an event which was so harrowing that it caused the storyteller’s “whole life to flash before” him. I’m not sure I’ve ever had such a “flash before me” experience; at least not one which...

Rassling

A recent post to the Frayser High Class of 1969 website by Gary Harrison (class of ‘72) mentioned famous wrestlers, Tojo Yamamoto and Jackie Fargo. It reminded me of two other famous personalities from that same era, and I thought I’d relate this tale to my...

Wall Jesus

As far back as I can remember, the picture hung on my grandmother’s wall in her living room. Jesus holds a little lamb in one arm and a shepherd’s crook in the other hand. Sheep gather around, and one looks up at Jesus (Like he knows him and trusts him?). My first...

Todd Creek

I grew up literally on the bank of a bayou back in Memphis, Tennessee. Of course, we didn’t call it a “bayou.” We called it “The Ditch.”  It’s real name was “Todd’s Creek,” which I sometimes call just “Todd Creek” (leaving out the possessive). Or sometimes call it by...

Inform Your Face You Are a Christian
